My beautiful shiny pretty new guitar :)

I got Guitar Hero: World Tour on friday night, and fired it up on saturday morning. Great setlist, the graphics are decent, the hammer-ons aren’t as easy to hit (No more raping TTFAF-esque songs anymore) and the new guitar was great.

I say WAS great.

After playing through a ton of the songs, I got to the 2nd last tier in the game. It had some pretty rough songs on it, inculding Hot For Teacher (My first 4* in the entire game :O:O:O:O). I got down to B.Y.O.B. By System of a Down, when I started failing. Yes, I started failing and continued on to FAIL the song. This just doesn’t happen. I knew that it was no fault of mine, so I took the guitar into practice mode and started searching for defects. Sure enough, after a wee while I realised that upstrums only worked about 75% of the time. This doesn’t SOUND like a big deal, but on fast strummy songs, it IS. I had the guitar in use for about 8 hours at MOST total, and now it is broken. I went back to my X-plorer and finished the game, but I am not happy. I have to take it back for a replacement now, another hastle.

On the positive side, some of the songs that I played, first time I got 100% and actually placed highly on the xbox live leaderboards (i’m talking, 100th etc.). That’s in the WORLD ladies and gentlemen. I was happy :).

…that I haven’t updated in ages. What can I say, i’ve been busy. I had planned a long post about how this generation of gaming is awesome etc, but I think i’ll leave that for a while. Til whenever I can be bothered, farewell!

Most people who follow the video game industry, most notably Rockstar Games and their most popular game GTA, will know who this old crone is. He has been the bane of most gamers’ existance for a long time now. This is the guy that claims that video games cause murderous violence in kids. Clearly games are the contributing factor. It couldn’t possibly be to the kids commiting the school shooting atrocities being mentally unstable. (Sarcasm by the way).

I’m not going to get into the whole omgwtfviolentgames arguement here, as it’s pointless and most people know that Thompson is a rambling old fool anyway. All I can say is that there are mental conditions where people act upon what they see, and are unable to tell the difference between real life and fiction. Examples of conditions that cause this are Autism and Asburgers Syndrome. Anyway…

Jack Thompson has just been permenantly Disbarred and will be effective from October the 27th. He’s trying to appeal against it, but he will fail as he doesn’t have a leg to stand on. This is the guy who sent a letter to the MOTHER of one of the rockstar developers, saying that she had obviously brought up a damaged child. He finished the letter with something along the lines of “I hope you’re proud of the filth that your son designs” or some such nonsense. Lawyers were supposed to be professional last time I checked, not insulting prats.

I was going to write a blog post about how amazing this current generation of games actually is, as I have learnt of many new exciting things this past week. However, I think i’ll save that long, LONG post til tomorrow. I leave you with a quote from colan regarding Mr Thompson.

Rock Band 2!

America has it. I hate America. They get to play all the awesome new songs like Painkiller, and Panic Attack, and Any Way You Want It. I’m stuck with Rock Band 1.

Anyway, things i’m most looking forward to about Rock Band 2:

  1. Peripherals that work. I’m looking at you guitar hero 3!
  2. The new drum kit. MUCH quieter pads, more bounce, the ability to turn them into a REAL electric drum set, and the drum trainer mode.
  3. The new guitar. Less clicky buttons aparantly. If only they made one like the X-plorer again. Silly Harmonix.
  4. New song list. Look it up on the internet, i’m too lazy to post it.
  5. Proving to all the non-believers that Rock Band 2 is going to blow GH:WT out of the water and be more fun overall (i’m looking at you Nick!)

Things I envy GH:WT for:

  1. Hot For Teacher - Van Halen
  2. GREAT PERIPHERALS

I thought that comic answered the question of guys and boobs pretty well and it made me laugh a lot, so I decided to share it with yas.

Posting for the sake of posting.

Title says it all. I’m a tad bored at the minute. Playing Castle Crashers online trying to get the achievement for 40 arena wins, even though I have 44. Why oh why don’t people properly test things anymore? No guitar hero this weekend, as my sister lost the adapter for the end of my guitar, and my broken Les Paul (A.k.a. Piece of Crap) is still as broken as ever. I’ll try to get a video up NEXT weekend, although i’ll be at lukes so…meh. I’ll see how it pans out. In the meantime I leave you with the disturbing picture posted on my profile.
